Google’s latest mobile OS arrives on the Nokia 8.3 5G.

HMD Global’s latest Nokia flagship has started receiving the new Android 11 update which is rolling out in select markets. This continues the company’s promise of updating its devices that are longer than the industry average. Currently, more than 1000+ software updates have been implemented in a span of four years.

In fact, Counterpoint Research has revealed that Nokia smartphones in fact lead the trust rankings based on four pillars of software, security updates, build quality, and enterprise-recommended device for the second year in a row.

For the Nokia 8.3 5G, HMD has promised three year’s worth of security updates along with two years of major OS upgrades. This means that the Nokia 8.3 5G is also scheduled to get Android 12 as it releases later this year.

“Counterpoint Research has recognized us for providing the fastest deployments for the past two consecutive Android OS upgrades regardless of price on a portfolio level, and we will continue our commitment for even our most affordable Android 11-ready handsets. The Nokia 8.3 5G has opened the floodgates for our Android 11 upgrade journey with many more of our smartphones soon to join the ranks,” said Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer and Vice President of North America, HMD Global.

“Bringing the latest operating system to a smartphone portfolio is by no means an easy feat; it is an intricate process involving a multitude of partners and a variety of tests. I’m thrilled by our team’s dedication in bringing the next step in Android OS innovation to our Nokia smartphone customers. We want to ensure that Nokia phone users have high-quality and safe smartphone experiences, which are intrinsic to our company’s ethos,” he added.

Android 11 brings all the new features and enhancements to this 5G-enabled Nokia flagship. On our review of the Nokia 8.3 5G, we highlighted its solid display and great camera performance despite its large build which may not be liked by everyone.
