Android Wear rebrands to Wear OS
March 12, 2018

Do you think it’s a better term?

A recent finding on the beta of Google Play services suggested that Android Wear is having a rebrand for its next version – and ‘Wear OS’ seems to be the new name.

The report came from a Reddit user (through Android Police) who said that he received a pairing notification after installing the beta. The notification (pictured above) resembles Google Assistant’s logo.

This new feature is part of the Nearby functionality on Android Wear, where it can actively detect any device that needs to be paired to your smartphone.

The rebranding to Wear OS should be officially announced during Google I/O in the next couple of months.
