OnePlus rolls out Android 11 to OnePlus 8 users

October 11, 2020

OxygenOS 11 also includes a new design change.

If you’re using a OnePlus 8 or a OnePlus 8 Pro, then you can check out your System Update menu as you are now getting Android 11 as part of the OxygenOS 11 update. The new update brings in new and rather controversial design changes that many said is similar to Samsung’s One UI.

A beta cycle was done that started with a developer preview that was also followed by a public preview. It is worth noting though that the OxygenOS 11 update is only for the OnePlus 8/8 Pro series, and while the company has promised the older models will also be getting an update, it didn’t mention when that will happen.

Some of the new changes include a new always-on display that also comes with a bunch of new layouts and clock faces that you can use. There’s also an improved Zen Mode and Game Space with an added ability to schedule Dark Mode. Stock apps have also been updated, along with the various new features that came with Android 11.

The update comes right before the OnePlus 8T is unveiled this week. OnePlus also confirmed that OxygenOS 11 will be heading to the OnePlus 7T Pro, OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 7Pro, OnePlus 7, OnePlus 6T, OnePlus 6, and OnePlus Nord.
