December 27, 2021

The Oppo Reno6 5G and Oppo Reno6 Z are smartphones that set standards, with blazing performance at their respective price brackets. Take the Oppo Reno6 5G, and you find an ultra-slim and premium smartphone. It is lightweight and comfortable to hold, weighing about 182g and coming in at 7.6mm. Its dazzling design is helped by Oppo’s exclusive Reno Glow process which creates a subtle shimmering effect to the matte glass while also keeping it fingerprint free.

The Oppo Reno6 Z 5G shares a similar design, giving you the same comfortable in-hand feel with the smartphone weighing about 173g and coming in at 7.9mm. Each smartphone boasts a 6.4-inch AMOLED display on the front with a punch-hole housing the 32MP selfie camera. While either display is great for multimedia consumption, the Reno6 5G boasts a faster 90Hz panel for smoother on-screen performance.

The highlight of each smartphone is their respective SoC. On the Reno6 5G, you find the MediaTek Dimensity 900U chip whereas on the Reno6 Z 5G, you find the MediaTek Dimensity 800U chip. Both are 5G enabled and can keep up with not just basic tasks like social media browsing or e-mails but also more intensive tasks like high-end gaming.

The MediaTek Dimensity 800U on the Reno6 Z 5G is an ultra-connected dual 5G chip that balances immense CPU speeds with an efficiency-focused design. The 5G-integrated chip includes carrier aggregation, a technology that enables higher average 5G speeds, greater coverage and seamless handover between two 5G areas. On the gaming front, the Dimensity 800U boosts its Big CPU cores up to 2.4GHz, giving you incredible launch times for games. Not just that, the integrated MediaTek AI Processing Unit on the MediaTek Dimensity 800U enables AI-camera enhancements for brilliant day & night videos.

The MediaTek Dimensity 900 on the Oppo Reno 6 5G boasts the latest Arm Cortex-A78 CPU cores, with amazing performance, snappier App response, brilliant FPS in games and better-connected experiences. A dedicated 4K HDR video capture engine and advanced noise reduction on the MediaTek Dimensity 900 ensures ultra-detailed low light imagery on the Oppo Reno 6 5G. The Mediatek Dimensity 900 is also exceptionally light on power, extending battery life even for demanding users. The Dimensity 900 features Networking Engine 3.0 for minimized online ping. Third generation 5G Call & Data Concurrency on the Oppo Reno 6 5G also allowing users with dual 5G to game uninterrupted while also making or receiving calls on the second SIM.

More so, Oppo’s built a suite of hardware and software features on Color OS 11 built over Android 11 into tailoring the experience for demanding users.

For example, both the Reno6 5G and Reno6 Z 5G come with RAM expansion, allowing for a portion of the smartphone’s ROM storage to be used as RAM. This means you can get additional RAM on top of the 8GB available on both smartphones for even better multitasking. With gaming, you find software features to fine-tune your in-game experience and cooling technology to keep your smartphone both cool and efficient throughout.

With such capable processors on-board, their benefits also transfer to photography and videography. Both smartphones can leverage the power of AI in photography, equipping a triple-camera system that features a 64MP primary sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. This gives users to opportunity to fully leverage Oppo’s image and video processing, with features such as AI Highlight Video, AI portrait enhancements and Dual-Video which makes vlogging easier.

To keep you going through the day, the Reno6 5G and Reno6 Z 5G come with 4,300mAh and 4,310mAh batteries. Each can last you through a day of use given the efficiency of the processors on-board but if you need to top up, both come with fast charging. The Reno6 5G boasts 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 charging for a full charge in around 30 minutes whereas the Reno6 Z 5G comes with 30W fast charging.

Both smartphones truly bring to light how a strong chipset can benefit your overall smartphone experience. The Oppo Reno6 5G is the more powerful offering with slightly higher-end specifications available for AED 2,149 while the Reno6 Z 5G is the budget friendly option available for AED 1,450.
