2020’s most commonly used passwords are hilariously predictable.

The password is the most secure layer that you can put on your account. While it has evolved over the years, nothing beats that same multi-character combination to keep your data safe but just as we found out now, 2020’s most common passwords revealed that some users still think ‘123456’ is a good choice.

NordPass has just released 2020’s most commonly used passwords and revealed some interesting tidbits on how users choose their passwords. The top three most commonly used passwords are 123456, 123456789, and picture1. Additionally, password is also a popular choice, as well as qwerty, abc123, Million2, iloveyou, omgpop, ashley, and even pokemon.

The list was made by analyzing a database that contains more than 275 million passwords. NordPass coordinated with a third-party provider to get the data, and revealed that out of these passwords, 44 percent were unique. While more than half still choose to make an insecure password, this percentage means that more users are now becoming more aware of how important a good password is.

If for some reason your password is in that list, be sure to change it now. We understand that it can be a struggle to manage them, but that’s what password managers are for.
