Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2: All about great sound anywhere
July 14, 2020

An audio brand that completed 75 years. And one that’s still on the very cusp of the innovation spectrum. Sennheiser today balances connectivity and design aesthetics in their end-consumer tech portfio with a professional recording industry portfolio, which is no mean feat.

Which brings us to the Momentum True Wireless 2 earbuds. The promise of the second incarnation is a great listening experience anytime, anywhere, a more personalised experience and earbuds that have been finely crafted for the most discerning listener.

Let’s address that last point up front. Admittedly, wireless earbuds have fallen into a bit of a design trap, with an almost standard format of going about things. The Momentum True Wireless 2 shakes things up a bit with a really different looking charging case for the earbuds, with a slate gray fabric case with a white company logo emblazoned on the top. Its all very ruggedly minimalistic, with a pairing button and USB Type-C port in the back.

Sound is obviously a key highlight here, with the bespoke 7 mm dynamic drivers ensuring deep bass, natural mids and clear, detailed treble. For purists, take comfort in the intuitive equalizer system which enables you to customise your output, adjusting bass, treble and mids separately, as well as the overall tilt of the frequency response. We saw a version of this in the first version of the Momentum True Wireless, of course.

On the noise cancelling front, the brand has put a lot of effort on the active noise cancelling technology, aside from the already-great passive noise isolation. The ability to shut out the outside world established, lets go to we should point out the ambient awareness mode on the Momentum True Wireless 2. Sennheiser has renamed it as Transparent Hearing mode, and when enabled, the earbuds let ambient noise into the soundstage, and, depending on your settings in the app, Transparency Mode can either pause whatever you’re listening to or keep it playing in the background.

Come to size, and the earpieces have been trimmed down almost 20%, making the less bulky in your hand and your ears than competitors like the Sony WF-1000XM3s. In terms of battery life, the device has a 7-hour battery life which can be extended up to 28 hours via the charging case.

Over the last few months, Sennheiser has adopted a digital first approach to marketing the product. And the hard work has paid off as the Momentum True Wireless 2 earphones have broken records over a remarkable 4-month winning streak. At present, the product is Sennheiser’s #1 in terms of sales across the globe and in this region.

Heston Saldanha, Regional Sales Manager, Sennheiser Middle East says, “Market, media and critics’ response to the launch of the new Momentum True Wireless has been very encouraging. During these challenging times, despite no touch and feel experience for customers in stores and all the other hindrances in place, our sales have been phenomenal courtesy of their support. We would like to thank our customers for their glowing testimonials and the media, influencers and critics for all the positive reviews online.”

Available in Black and White, the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 retails in the UAE for AED 1,199.
