Short on cash? Soon your friends can send you money on WhatsApp
August 10, 2017

But will it be available in the UAE?

WhatsApp continues to dominate as one of the best messaging platforms available (even if its VOIP functions are blocked), along with new features being added regularly that goes beyond messaging, it looks like it is gaining another one: Payments.

Users testing the beta version of WhatsApp (2.17.295 beta) revealed that users will soon be able to send money to their contact list. A user posted the screenshot below that details that WhatsApp Payments splash screen that tells you of a ‘bank to bank transfer with UPI’.

WhatsApp hasn’t officially said anything about the upcoming feature and will probably take a while before it gets rolled out (assuming it gets approved for use elsewhere). Facebook’s own Messenger app already does the same, and the upcoming update to iOS 11 will have its own iMessage feature supporting peer-to-peer payments.
