Snapchat is getting a new camera and augmented reality (AR) experiences today. The app has seen a steady rise in usage, with more than 170 million Snapchatters engaging in its AR features for up to 30 times per day.

Introduced today is a new version of Lens Studio, a free desktop application made for developers and artists to build AR Lenses on Snapchat. The new update now includes SnapML, which lets developers use their own machine learning models and create Lenses using neural networks. Snap has partnered with Wannaby, Prisma, CV2020, and several Official Lens Creators for its first SnapML creations.

Lens Studio also offers Face Landmarks and Face Expressions for improved facial tracking along with new Hand Gesture templates and an updated user interface. Lens Studio can be accessed through lensstudio.snapchat.com.

A preview of Local Lenses is also being introduced, where you can enable a persistent, shared AR world built right around your neighborhood. Using Snapchat, you can step inside the virtual world and decorate the buildings that should take you to a new dimension using AR.

Lastly, Scan partners is launching to help you unlock Lenses based on what you see in the camera. This includes PlantSnap, where it can identify 90 percent of all known plants and trees. Dog Scanner on the other hand, can recognize up to 400 breeds. There’s also a Nutrition Scanner that gives you a rating of the quality of ingredients in packaged foods. Soon you can also scan the Louis Vuitton monogram and it will show you the inspiration behind the latest collection. Then there’s Voice Scan, where you can get Lens results by simply using your voice.
