Snapchat’s new 3D Camera Mode is out
September 18, 2019

Available on the iPhone X and above.

Just in time before the release of the iPhone 11, Snapchat has started rolling out a new feature called 3D Camera Mode that will let you create Snaps that change in perspective and appearance based on how you move your smartphone.

3D Camera Mode is possible thanks to the TrueDepth camera system first introduced on the iPhone X. That is why 3D Camera Mode will only available on the iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR and the upcoming iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Don’t worry though, since Snaps made using 3D Camera Mode can still be shared to your friends no matter what platforms they’re using.

Andrew McPhee, Exploration at Snap Inc, said: “With the introduction of depth and interaction, Snaps can capture even more detail about how the world looks and how you feel. Together with our new 3D Effects, this feature adds a new layer of expression to bring your Snaps to life in a way that’s a step closer to the real thing.”

You can find 3D Camera mode by swiping down on the right from the main Snapchat camera. You will then be able to view different Lenses and Filters that you can apply to your image. See how it works by watching the video below:
