Facebook is working on monetizing the popular messaging platform.
WhatsApp is definitely one of the most popular messaging platforms especially here in the UAE. After Facebook’s purchase a couple of years back, it is already looking into ways on how to monetize the platform.
Like it or not, ads will definitely be coming to WhatsApp. It’s a nuisance for some that is for sure, but if you look at it, ads are one way to generate revenue on a platform that has millions, or rather billions of users – and we might be seeing ads on WhatsApp soon, as per Chris Daniels, WhatsApp’s Vice President.
With privacy a big concern for many, some are wondering how ads will work on WhatsApp if it cannot have access to user data. It is known that the ads appearing on WhatsApp will come from Facebook’s own ad system that connects to your user profile.
Still, many will be worried as to how WhatsApp’s own end-to-end encryption will be implemented despite the appearance of ads.
There’s no definite time frame as to when you’d expect ads to show, and they’ll be most likely be contained within the status window on the app.
