IoT is growing, thanks to Google.
Virtual assistants like Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant have dominated the IoT world in the past few years, but it looks like Google has emerged as the most popular. In a report by Google’s support page, it said that Google Assistant is now present on more than 50,000 devices from over 5,500 brands.
While it’s difficult to find proof for this claim, the open-source nature of some Google services makes it easier for brands to adopt it. With smart home devices being launched on a weekly basis that range from the known expensive brands to the more generic and cheaper ones, the rise of popularity of IoT devices also led to brands utilizing Google’s services.
Despite the mix of devices, Google actually found a way to unify these devices using Assistant and if you own an Android device you would know how useful it can be. Since it is easy to integrate Google services with hardware, we won’t be surprised if the number surpasses 100,000 soon.
Are you using Google Assistant? Was it a useful feature for you or you don’t use it? Let us know in the comments!
