It uses AR to know if you are at least two meters apart.

Social distancing is a new concept that’s now being advised to be practiced by everyone. To help avoid the spread of COVID-19, people now must distance themselves at least 2 meters away from each other. If you’re having trouble seeing that distance, then maybe Google could help you out.

Sodar is a new web-based app created by Google that uses augmented reality (AR) to show a 2-meter boundary around you. The use of AR here isn’t perfect, but it should give you an idea on how far you should be away from other people to effectively implement social distancing.

Sodar’s web app is accessible through the Chrome browser only on Android devices, so if you’re on iPhone you’re pretty much left out. Head on to https://sodar.withgoogle.com to access the web app, and you’ll immediately see the AR effects telling you about your distance.

It is a simple yet effective tool to keep you safe, especially now that lockdowns are being eased around the world.
