Microsoft has already confirmed that a new version of its popular Office productivity suite is coming by the end of this year but there’s a catch: it will only be available for devices running Windows 10.
That means that users that are still running Windows 7 and Windows 9 won’t be able to enjoy the new features of Office 2019. This only applies if you want to install the standalone office apps. You can still enjoy Office 2019 if you have the web-based Office 365 subscription.
It goes to show how Microsoft is now pushing everyone to upgrade to Windows 10 whether they want to or not since it’s the only future software updates and other features will be supported.
But from a business point of view, it would probably be a nightmare for anyone who hasn’t upgraded to Windows 10 since it won’t involve just one PC that would be upgraded.
Microsoft also hasn’t stated if a Mac version is also coming.
Microsoft hasn’t detailed the features of Office 2019 just yet, but it is looking to start offering beta access as early as April.
