Specialised editing tool made for mobile devices.
During its annual partnership summit, Snap has announced the release of a new app called Story Studio. It’s an iOS-only editing tool that is made for mobile vertical videos that you can share on Spotlight, currently dubbed as Snap’s TikTok competitor.
Through Snapchat Insights, you can see what’s currently trending on the app when it comes to sound, lenses, and of course hashtags. Like Snapchat, Lenses can be accessed on Story Studio including various Snapchat Sounds and stickers. Much like other video editing apps, you can trim, cut, paste and virtually do anything you want with the video, including rendering it to its final form.
Since it is one of the few apps that will specialise in vertical video editing, Story Studio can also be utilised for use on other platforms, including TikTok and Instagram Reels. While TikTok offers editing capabilities, the final rendered video contains a watermark and while it can be shared on Instagram Reels, its algorithm demotes the video so it won’t be seen by many if it detects a watermark. Videos created on Story Studio won’t have watermarks, making them ideal for use on any platform.
Snapchat’s Story Studio will roll out later this year initially on iOS devices first, though no details were shared about a version for Android.
