Sony crowdfunds upcoming smart lock accessory

December 15, 2014

Will let you unlock a door with your smartphone.

Much like its E-Ink watch, Sony has turned to crowd-funding website Makuake to help fund their latest product called the Qrio. It is basically a product line of smart locks that would let you unlock certain things such as doors with your smartphone.

The Qrio, as how this smart lock is called, can fit on top of your current lock and is easy to install. An app on your phone connects visa Bluetooth to be able to unlock your door. You can also assign temporary keys to trusted people who can also use an app to unlock it from their own devices.

Currently, the project has already attracted a lot backers and with less than 80 days left for the campaign, more than 170% of the funds have already been pledged, proving how successful it was. With a battery life that can last up to 1000 days, it seems to be a great add-on to your security needs – question is, will you be buying it?
