Sony launches OLED 8K TV priced at $70,000

April 23, 2019

I’d like three of these, please.

Sony has just unveiled the pricing for its latest line of 2019 8K OLED TVs and they’re not exactly designed for the average consumer. The highest-end model, a 98-inch 8K OLED TV, will set you back almost $70,000 (that’s more than 250,000 AED). We’re guessing Sony is serious when they say this TV is high-end. There’s a cheaper 85-inch variant that will set you back $13,000 just in case it’s too expensive for you.

Kidding aside, the display is clearly meant for consumers looking for the best of the best – though as you know at the moment, 8K content is very rare, so you’d end up upscaling your 4K or even HD content on it.

But as you may know, Sony did bring its game with awesome new TVs. These are part of the MASTER series that all come in a slim form factor and utilizes Sony’s Picture Processor X1 Ultimate that controls over 8 million self-illuminating Pixels.

Maybe that’s part of the reason behind crazy price tag – but if that’s too much for you, Sony is still launching new 4K HDR TVs that should fit your budget.
