Sony Pictures hacked; internal data compromised

Confidential information held ransom by hackers.

CNET has reported that Sony Pictures was hit by a group called #GOP that apparently has gained access to confidential information and that the group has threatened to release them unless the company gives in to their demands.

The attack happened on Monday where it managed to compromise all of the employee’s computers, forcing them to turn off their workstations to prevent any more liabilities. The hackers mentioned that the data they have stolen include internal documents and some ‘secrets’ that they will be releasing to the public.

Sony Pictures was quiet throughout the whole incident but the company has also advised their employees to disable their Wi-Fi and Cellular services to be safe. Sony Pictures is the entertainment branch of Japanese company Sony, who produced the recent hit ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’.
