A lightweight version of the app has just been released.

Spotify is already growing to be one of the most popular streaming services in the Middle East despite being launched only a few months ago, but the main Spotify app can sometimes overwhelm entry-level devices – especially budget Android smartphones.

To solve this, Spotify Lite is being launched as an alternative for these devices so they can still stream any song that they want. Spotify Lite has all the functions of the main app including music discovery and making playlists but uses fewer data and occupies less space so it won’t impact performance on slower devices.

“Spotify Lite was built from the ground up based on user feedback from around the world, allowing millions more to enjoy the world’s best music experience — especially in areas with limited bandwidth and phone storage,” says Kalle Persson, Senior Product Manager at Spotify.

Spotify Lite is exclusive to Android devices since it’s the platform that includes a majority low and entry-level hardware. Currently, Spotify Lite is available in 36 markets including the UAE. You can download Spotify Lite for free on the Google Play Store
