Spotify’s first hardware is a ‘thing’ made for cars
May 19, 2019

It’s really called ‘Car Thing’.

We’ve already heard the news that Spotify is planning on making its first hardware and just a few days ago the company has confirmed that the device is being called ‘Car Thing’. Car Thing will, of course, be a car accessory that will be powered by your car’s 12-volt outlet and will entirely be voice operated.

Spotify has already invited some of its Premium users to try out Car Thing. Not much was revealed, though we think that the entire voice recognition feature means you can simply talk to the device to play your tunes. There’s a good chance that it will feature internet connectivity to stream your tunes or it can even feature offline listening, which will be awesome.

More details should be revealed soon, and the success of the device depends on how users will support it. Considering that Spotify has already released on almost all major markets worldwide, there’s a good chance it will be embraced by fans.

Spotify isn’t just the company investing in voice-controlled music players. Amazon has already announced its own Echo Auto, a smart speaker that’s made specifically for automobiles.
