LaCie’s 1big drives offers performance made for creative professionals

July 1, 2020

1big Dock SSD Pro and 1big Dock devices launched.

Seagate’s premium storage brand LaCie has just announced two new storage solutions aimed for prosumers and creative professionals that can help streamline and optimize their workflows as part of a desktop storage solution.

The two drives – the LaCie 1big Dock SSD Pro (available in 2TB and 4TB SSD capacities) and the 1big Dock (available in 4TB, 8TB, and 16TB HDD capacities) – were all designed by Neil Poulton.

The LaCie 1big Dock SSD is ideal for video editing especially with 6K, 8K, super slow motion, or uncompressed video along with VFX content and is ideal for cinema cameras like ARRI, Blackmagic, and RED. The drive utilizes the Seagate’s FireCuda NVMe SSD and Thunderbolt 3 that deliver read speeds of up to 2800MB/s. There are two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports along with a docking station that includes a USB 3.0 port, plus memory card slots (CFast 2.0, CFexpress, and SD) and DisplayPort 1.4.

The LaCie 1big Dock on the other hand also features direct ingestion of content straight from SD, CompactFlash, and USB devices. Ideal for 4K video, the 1big Dock minimizes extra dongles and serves as the hub for all peripherals.

Both drives are also able to deliver up to 45W of power to a laptop or 30W when daisy-chained with other compatible devices. LaCie also has a Power Pass-Through feature that can give up to 70W power using USB-C.

Available starting July 2020, both the 1big Dock SSD Po and the 1big Dock will have a 5-Year Limited Warranty that includes Rescue Data Recovery Services and 1-month access to Adobe Creative Cloud All-Apps plan.

The LaCie 1big Dock SSD Pro will retail for 5,249 AED for the 2TB version and 10,049 AED for the 4TB version.

The LaCie 1big Dock will retail for 1,399 AED for 4TB, 1,849 AED for 8TB, and 2,649 AED for 16TB.
