Spotify is rolling out real-time lyrics support to select countries
July 2, 2020

The feature will be available in 26 countries, UAE excluded.

A report by TechCrunch confirmed that real-time lyrics support is coming to select countries this month that include territories from Southeast Asia, India, and Latin America. Unfortunately, the Middle East wasn’t included, meaning that the feature won’t be available to users in the UAE. It is also evident that the feature isn’t available in the US as well, with Spotify blaming issues about licensing.

Spotify originally tested real-time lyrics support last year, and countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Mexico already have some form of lyric feature. Spotify’s full lyric support was done in cooperation with Musixmatch.

If a song you’re playing has lyrics available, you can simply swipe up from the Now Playing screen, where you can see the lyrics showing as the music plays.

The countries which will have Spotify’s full lyric support include:

  • Argentina
  • Brazil
  • Colombia
  • Chile
  • Mexico
  • Peru
  • Bolivia
  • Costa Rica
  • Dominican Republic
  • Ecuador
  • Guatemala
  • Honduras
  • India
  • Nicaragua
  • Panama
  • Paraguay
  • El Salvador
  • Uruguay
  • Vietnam
  • Philippines
  • Indonesia
  • Malaysia
  • Thailand
  • Taiwan
  • Singapore
  • Hong Kong

Hopefully, Spotify users in the UAE will have the same feature soon, considering its rivals like Apple Music already has full lyric support since launch.
