Listen to the same tunes with friends or family.
Spotify is expanding its Group Session feature so it can be accessed by any of your friends or family no matter where they are. Spotify originally launched Group Session in May but can only be shared by users living in the same household. This time, you can now start a listening session with friends and family who live on the other side of the world.
“In our latest innovation, we’re taking Group Session one step further with brand-new functionality that allows Spotify Premium users around the world to tune into the same playlist or podcast simultaneously. So no matter the distance—whether six feet apart or a thousand miles away—you and the members of your squad can now each listen to the same content at the same time on your own devices (as well as control playback). Groups of two to five people can use this feature at once by sharing a “join” link via messaging apps or social media with each other,” Spotify said in a blog post. Spotify has even introduced new playlists that can be listened through Group Session that includes Country Cookout or even a Power Run playlist.
Group Session is accessible through the Connect menu located on the bottom left corner of the app. From there, you can simply tap the button to start a group session where you can send an invite to anyone. Note that only Premium subscribers can use the feature and that anyone who joins the listening session can skip and pause playback along with adding new tracks on the playlist.
