Concept device was shown off at a blockchain conference.
HTC has just announced a new concept Android smartphone that was optimized specifically for the blockchain. The new device, named HTC Exodus, has been dubbed as the first smartphone ‘dedicated to decentralized applications and security’.
“I want to see a world where the end consumers can truly own without the need for central authorities. There is a lot of work ahead of us, but I believe the mobile hardware layer can contribute significantly to our new decentralized world,” said Phil Chen, the co-founder of the HTC Vive.
The HTC Exodus was even touted to include support for various cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. This also means that the Exodus is able to connect to various wallets thanks to its secure hardware stack. Chen even emphasized that all the secure data will be stored right in the smartphone.
Since it’s still a concept device, pricing and availability weren’t revealed at the moment – but more details should be ready in the next few months.
