The iPhone 6 is the most popular model.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has just revealed a new statistic about mobile in the UAE. In the first quarter of 2016, Apple’s iPhone 6 was revealed to be the most commonly used smartphone in the country with 4.48 percent of total handsets registered in the local networks.
Additionally, Samsung gains the title of the most used handset brand in the country, where it was known that 33 percent of registered devices came from the same brand. Nokia goes on second place while Apple comfortably sits in third.
As expected, Android is also the most used mobile operating system considering that most of Samsung’s devices run on the platform. iOS comes at second and while there are still some devices running on the Symbian OS, it is slowly declining over time.
Additionally, Facebook remains as the top social networking website in the UAE, accounting for 91 percent of the 24 billion visits made to social media website.
