Third-generation Chromecast leaks early
September 30, 2018

Will be introduced as part of Google’s upcoming event.

The Chromecast may be one of Google’s most popular products. It allowed a way for users to mirror content from devices without the need to purchase newer expensive TVs. It’s been a while since Google updated the Chromecast, with the last revision of the device being released over a year ago.

Google isn’t supposed to introduce the new Chromecast until next month for its annual hardware keynote, but it seems some stores in the US have prematurely started selling the new version of the Google Chromecast.

A post on Reddit mentioned that a user brought a Chromecast but instead got a different model from what he was expecting. The 3rd-generation Chromecast features a slightly smaller build, along with a new matte exterior, ditching the glossy look for the 2nd-generation.

Internals haven’t been detailed, but expect a slight upgrade that would probably make 4K as standard support.

More details should be revealed by next month when Google officially commences it’s ‘Made by Google’ event.
