Launching in 2022.
Teased during Star Wars day on May 4th, Disney has given fans a better look at its own realistic-looking retractable lightsaber. The toy (which I’m sure isn’t just meant for kids) look very cool, making it stand out from the usual lightsaber toys that have come out over the years.
With this new lightsaber, there will be a retractable blade that instantly lights up much like the ‘real’ lightsaber. Not much was detailed about the new accessory, which is still under development by the Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development. It is likely to support the various noises that a lightsaber makes, similar to the more expensive sabers that are already available.
The lightsaber will be part of Disney’s Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser immersive hotel, a two-night adventure made just for Star Wars fan. The hotel is located in Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Florida and is scheduled to open in 2022.
As for the price, a regular lightsaber toy can fetch up to $200. With the advanced LED tech that goes into the new lightsaber, expect it to be priced in the same bracket if not more.
But for fans like me, I don’t mind spending on that piece of cool Star Wars tech. What do you think about the new lightsaber toy? Will you spend that much to own one? Let us know your thoughts!
