Hasbro’s $700 Optimus Prime transforms on its own

April 11, 2021

Yes, I want one as well.

Transformers will always be part of my childhood and yes, I even enjoyed the Michael Bay movies. I’d always thought that will I will outgrow the toys when I become an adult, but here I am in my mid-30s trying to see if I can spend $700 on this awesome Optimus Prime toy that transforms on its own.

Hasbro has created hundreds of Transformers toys, but they’re all the same, you would have to manually do the transformations yourself while making robot noises. But that problem is seemingly solved with Hasbro’s new Optimus Prime because it features servo motors controlled by a mobile app that allows it to transform by itself.

The toy measures 19 inches high and has more than 5,000 components, 27 servo motors, and a crazy 60 microchips. All of this hardware work together to make Optimus Prime as realistic as it could be (imagine if it was lifesize). The accompanying app also includes voice commands, letting you say ‘roll out’ or ‘convert’ to initiate the transformation.

Hasbro’s Optimus Prime Auto Converting Programmable Advanced Robot is now available for pre-order on Hasbro’s Pulse website for $699.99. It will ship out on August 2nd.
