UAE’s first nanosatellite sent out its first message in Arabic

February 23, 2017

A quote from Shaikh Mohammad.

The recently released Nayif-1, which is the UAE’s first nanosatellite, has transmitted its first message in Arabic – and it’s a quote from none other than His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The messages reads, “The renaissance of peoples, nations and civilizations starts with education; and the future of nations starts at their schools.” The transmission was received by various ground stations operating on amateur radio bands.

Nayif-1 was launched last February 15, 2017 by the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) in cooperation with American University of Sharjah (AUS) that aims to provide Emirati students a more hands-on approach on building and designing nanosatellites.
