Google’s set to introduce a new OLED VR headset
March 13, 2018

Something to look forward to during Google I/O 2018.

At a recent conference, Clay Bavor, the head for Google’s AR/VR division has announced a secret project that the company has been working on. This involves creating a new OLED-based VR display.

To compare, current VR headsets use a 2-megapixel resolution on each eye that also includes a 110-degree view. While this is good, it is not enough to deliver a better experience when viewing VR content.

This upcoming headset from Google not only features an OLED display, but it also promises to offer a resolution 10 times the current one, matching the pixels found on 4K TVs.

This adds to the current rumor that Google will be introducing a new VR headset in addition to new hardware and software during its Google I/O event in the next couple of months.
