K-Pop group Blackpink just set a new YouTube record
April 10, 2019

The fastest video to reach 100 million views.

TechCrunch is reporting that the music video for ‘Kill This Love’ by Korean pop band Blackpink, has just been recognized as the fastest music video to hit more than 100 million views which it has accomplished in just three days. It is also YouTube’s most viewed debut music video, where it accumulated 56.7 million views in its first 24 hours online.

Other records smashed by the music video included the biggest YouTube Premiere, where it had about 979,000 concurrent views. This dethroned the previous record holder, Ariana Grande, for her music video ‘Thank U, Next’.

Blackpink’s latest song also made records on iTunes, where it debuted number 1 on the US store, which is the first Asian girl group to achieve the record.

Blackpink has amassed millions of fans around the world since its introduction in 2016. Their popularity in Asia also made way for the group to make waves in other countries like the US, hence the reason why their music video has been viewed millions of times.
