Whether high-end or low-end, Huawei’s recent additions bring tribute to its colossal success

July 26, 2016

Championing 100,000,000 shipments a year and counting, with living legend Messi fronting the Chinese manufacturer’s public image as the Huawei ambassador, it is not hard to understand how the quickly emerging albeit debuting smartphone is giving titans like Apple and Samsung a run for their money.

Huawei, a debuting smartphone manufacturer which has adamantly carved out a sizeable piece of the 400-billion-dollar smartphone oligopoly for itself while going from strength to strength, has kept the momentum with recent additions to its quickly expanding portfolio, further solidifying its position as serious competition in a cut-throat industry. And this is only the beginning.

Recent additions boasting the illustrious family name have made an appearance as of late, namely the P9, riding high on the high end, and the Y6 Pro, a budget but brilliant lower end choice that still nets you incredible bang for your buck with a boastful 3-day battery life.

Huawei – a construct with Hua meaning ‘in China’ and Wei meaning ‘we can achieve anything’, has won over the Lebanese audience with the launch of its P9, and all its deserved hoopla courtesy of a massive launch campaign extending across the nation.

We were put in on the action with an exclusive invitation to a round table meeting, held at the lavish Le Gray hotel in Beirut’s downtown district, where we rubbed shoulders with other highflying media execs from the industry while enjoying a detailed presentation conducted by Vice President of Huawei Levant Mr. Mutasem Shehadeh. The engaging presentation highlighted the P9’s quality-laden genealogy and how, with its Leica-endorsed professional lens, it’s generating so much hype the world over.

The P9 becomes a perfect go-between for the professional cameraman and the media socialite that lives on the go. It is furnished with a Leica-lens close to its heart, putting it on the same level as a professional camera, but with the compact dimensions and portability of a magnificently slim and easy to use smartphone, to only scratch the surface of its wealth of premium qualities.

We were also invited for a day out in the sun, to test drive the affordable Y6 Pro with other media execs, brought together while enduring extreme sports to the tune of hill climbing and ratchetting while brandishing the new phone, further exposing its endurance and durability as a heavy duty choice that can brave terse environmental conditions and still cling fast to its promise of a 3 day battery life, not to mention a quad-core processor, a 13-megapixel 2.0 aperture camera, and an awe-inducing design inspired by water.
