Xiaomi has officially taken the wraps off the Xiaomi Mi A2 and the Mi A2 Lite, the successor to the successful Mi A1 that was launched last year.
Both the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite are part of the Android One platform so they run the most recent versions of Android including up-to-date security patches. It comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, with a guaranteed upgrade to Android P when it releases in the next couple of months.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 will support a 5.99-inch full HD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and will have a Snapdragon 660 chipset. There’s 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM with your choice of 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB capacities. There will also be dual 12-megapixel and 20-megapixel cameras at the back and a 20-megapixel front-facing camera. It removes the headphone jack and will have a fingerprint sensor at the back.
The less powerful Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite will have a 5.84-inch notched display powered by the Snapdragon 625 CPU along with 32 GB or 64 GB of storage and 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM. There’s also dual cameras at the back and a headphone jack.
Xiaomi says that it will be launching the devices in 40 markets worldwide this month, as expected, they’re keeping the pricing of the smartphones on the affordable side but we will get the exact local prices here in the UAE once they are available.
