Yahoo launches LiveText messaging app

July 30, 2015

Blending live-streaming video and text for a more ‘memorable’ experience.

Centering on real-time conversations, LiveText from Yahoo will stream videos of your friends as you chat with them, seeing their reactions much like how it is in person. The video stream will be silent, and text messaging will be the main form of communication.

LiveText had a soft launch in Taiwan, Ireland and Hong Kong and will roll out in US, Canada, UK, Germany and France. The app will be available for free on iOS and Android devices.

“Yahoo Livetext puts your words and your friend’s real-time reactions at the center of your conversation. Whether you’re watching Avicii DJ at the Creamfields Festival, at Venice Beach or taking in the view from the Eiffel Tower, you can spontaneously connect with the people you care about and invite them to experience moments with you. Your friend’s goofy look or giant smile, even her eye roll or silent sigh, suddenly become a part of your conversation. Simple conversations are transformed into vivid, authentic and memorable experiences that you can share anytime,” Yahoo said in a statetment.

Now everyone will know if that LOL you just sent really made you laugh.
