The new feature was announced last March.
YouTube earlier this year has already confirmed that its native app on iOS and Android will be getting dark mode, a feature that has been requested for a while now by users. Dark mode came to iOS devices first, with many enjoying the new mode especially on the iPhone X’s OLED screen.
Android users have been waiting for the feature to arrive on their devices for a while now, but the good news is that Google is now rolling out dark mode to everyone. The feature will be automatically applied for users and for those who don’t like dark mode, they can easily turn it off.
That being said, dark mode on the YouTube app is more of a dark gray rather than a pure black color – though many are saying it’s an improvement on the app especially when you use it at night or in the dark.
If you still don’t have dark mode on your YouTube app, worry not since the feature is still being rolled out to everyone at the moment – also make sure that the YouTube app is up to date.
