Made for gaming.

Gaming monitors are now a must have part for any gamer’s computer setup. Along with that, the recent advancements in graphics technology enables these monitors to perform better with games.

The AOC G2460PG is a monitor that offers a 24-inch panel that supports a 144 Hz refresh rate and is also one of the monitors that support Nvidia’s G-Sync technology that reduces input lag when playing games and at the same time offer a smooth graphical experience. Basically a G-Sync monitor will try and eliminate all the possible hurdles that gaming monitors suffer – and if you know gamers, input lag is a major disadvantage for a gaming monitor.

While Nvidia’s G-Sync is a great feature – though it requires you to use the DisplayPort connector and a support Nvidia graphics card. In this case, you would need at least a GeForce GTX 650 graphics to support the feature. In my test, I hooked up the monitor to my personal rig running on a Core i5 processor with 16 GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 video card.

The AOC G2460PG’s design is pretty much standard, offering a black finish with a matte texture. The stand itself is sturdy enough to handle the display, and even let you adjust the monitor and use it in portrait mode. The stand also lets you adjust the height or tilt the display side to side. There are four buttons at the front of the display that lets you navigate the menus and turn on specific functions. There are two USB 3.0 ports on the monitor along with a single DisplayPort input – so better consider this especially if you are using D-sub, HDMI, or DVI.

The AOC G2460PG supports a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 – which is standard for most monitors nowadays. After a bit of recalibration to get the right colors, the display managed to showcase its capabilities. Colors are great, while the black levels manage to offer a level of visibility on dark games. The only problem with the viewing angles, which diminish the colors when viewed from a certain angle.

But it’s one gaming where AOC G2460PG really shines. I ran Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in which I immediately noticed the increased smoothness of the game. I ran benchmarks for Tomb Raider and Crysis 3 and the G-Sync feature offered a better experience.

Priced at 1949 AED, the AOC G2460PG offers a decent gaming experience thanks to the Nvidia G-Sync support – though you may have to consider the prerequisites such as supported hardware and a single DisplayPort connector before purchasing this monitor.
