A budget gaming monitor that delivers.
Gaming monitors are normally expensive, but the BenQ Mobiuz EX2710 perfectly strikes a balance between performance and value that makes it one of the best gaming monitors available. At 27-inches and a full HD resolution, it isn’t the biggest, but personally, it didn’t bother me in the weeks I’ve spent playing on it.
The EX2710 comes in a compact design, where small bezels line up the three sides of the display with a slightly large chin at the bottom. There’s a triangular stand located below that is discreetly tucked away and puts the display at a desirable height.
It’s an IPS panel that allows great viewing angles and the matte screen also means little to no glare. A 5-way navigator is also located behind the screen, which lets you easily navigate the menus. As for the inputs, you’re getting two HDMI 2.0 ports and a DisplayPort. There are built-in 2.5W speakers, though don’t expect much from the sound output.
It also comes with HDRi, a proprietary BenQ technology where it applies HDR to any content but enhanced with intelligent control. This feature analyses each image that is being displayed so that it always appears at its best. True to that statement, games that I’ve played in HDR showcased really bright whites and excellent blacks along with color accuracy.
That’s just HDRi, and the EX2710 also comes with an excellent 144Hz refresh rate along with a 1ms response time. 144Hz works especially well with fast-paced games, and I’ve noticed this when playing Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War from a PC with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 card and an Xbox Series X. Graphics are so buttery smooth, which is already an advantage if you like to play first-person shooters.
Overall, the BenQ Mobiuz EX2710 definitely performs well beyond what we’ve expected. While the design is mostly standard, performance excels on all fronts thanks to HDRi, 144Hz refresh rate, and the 1ms response time. Sure, you can also spend extra and get a top of the line gaming monitor, but there are enough features on the BenQ Mobiuz EX2710 to make it your first choice.
