Keeping that air clean.

Air purifiers aren’t the usual appliance that you’d find inside your home. But if you live in a place where air pollution is rampant, you may probably need to invest in one since you never know that polluted air is already harming you and your family. Blueair’s line of air purifiers usually cater to bigger rooms, but the current model, the Joy S, is the perfect appliance to any small room (or office).

Air purifiers are usually big and bulky, but the Joy S is small enough to be fitted anywhere in your home. It is Blueair’s smaller and slimmest air purifier, which is perfect for small spaces. The device is made for rooms of up to 16 m², which is basically the size of an average room. The cylindrical design of the Joy S allows it to filter air on all angles, with the main fan located on top where the clean, filtered air is released. Located below the Joy S is an access panel where you can replace the filters. It’s easy and hassle-free so you don’t have to worry about any overcomplicated setups.

You’d hardly notice the Joy S is operating once it has been turned on, but you’d have to reply on the product to do its job since there is no way you would know if the air you’re breathing is already clean. That is because the Joy S lacks a display that tells you of the air quality, nor there is an app where you can see the air quality levels. Other air purifiers usually have a small display that should give you an idea on the air quality – it’s the only feature that’s clearly missing from the Joy S.

We have to base the effectiveness of the Joy S based on Blueair’s claims: the air purifier is able to clean a 16 square meter space every 12 minutes where the filter utilizes HEPASilent technology to catch every contaminant. The Joy S is able to remove different odors and gases, and operates at a minimum power so you don’t have to worry about your electric bill.

Overall, we’d have limited recommendation on the Joy S on the basis of the missing display. It would have been great if we actually know that the air quality in the room has been filtered, else we don’t really know if the product is working or not.

We Love:

+ Small and compact

+ Whisper silent operation

We Hate:

– Lack of a display means it doesn’t tell you the current air quality

Final Rating: 3/5
