Creative Chrono: An all-in-one that’s lots of fun
August 12, 2018

Let’s check out this Bluetooth speaker and alarm clock combo.

The Creative Chrono feels like a throwback device – those days when all you had was a digital alarm clock with a built-in radio. This speaker technically does all of that and more, and its price easily makes it a decent recommendation if you’re looking for a wireless Bluetooth speaker that can also work as an alarm clock.

Let’s round off the features of the Creative Chrono: this splashproof wireless speaker can connect via Bluetooth and features a full-range driver that delivers an impressive sound output despite its size. What’s more, it can also function as a speakerphone so you can also use it to make calls when your device is connected.

The front houses a large LED display that shows the time where you can use set your own alarms. Of course, it also has an FM Radio, where you can also set 50 stations as your favorite.

At the back of the Creative Chrono, you’ll find the micro USB port for charging the speakers along with a 3.5 mm input and a microSD card reader.

I spend a week with the Creative Chrono while it’s connected to my iPhone. Pairing was hassle-free, and using the Sound Blaster Connect app I managed to easily sort out my favorite stations along with switch different audio sources on the fly.

Sound output was better than expected: the bass was deep while the mids and highs delivered a decent tune. It tends to get distorted when the volume levels are too high, but it only happened once in my tests and it didn’t really affect the overall sound quality. The Creative Chrono also stayed true to its promised 8-hour battery life.

For 199 AED, the Creative Chrono definitely delivers as a simple wireless Bluetooth speaker.

We Love:

+ Decent sound output

+ Small and portable

We Hate:

– Slight distortions at high levels

Final Rating: 3.5/5
