HP EliteBook x360 1040 G7 Review
April 6, 2021

The Lowdown:

The HP EliteBook x360 1040 G7 brings an excellent design and build quality with fantastic battery life, perfect for office or even home use.

The Review:

Business laptops usually focus on performance and battery life, but the HP EliteBook series doesn’t just focus on those aspects but pays special attention to design as well. More than that, this 2-in-1 notebook has all the bells and whistles that should make it an ideal choice for a business notebook.

The EliteBook x360 1040 G7 belongs under the x360 series line, meaning that the notebook features a 360-degree hinge that enables you to flip the screen and use it as a tablet or any other mode. Weighing just a little over 1.2 kilograms, the lightweight build also meant that the notebook can be easily brought anywhere.

It also boasts a sleek exterior made from aluminum with brushed metal making it easy to handle. The notebook has also undergone MIL-STD standard tests so it’s durable than most laptops and should withstand daily wear and tear.

Despite the slim profile of the EliteBook x360 1040 G7, you’re still an abundance of ports to make connectivity easier. There are two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, HDMI, and a SIM card slot. The USB-C port also acts as the charging port where you connect the 65W AC adapter.

The 13.3-inch touchscreen comes with a 1920-by-1080 pixel resolution. Our review unit came with HP Sure View integrated privacy screen that reduces visible light on the notebook’s screen, making it difficult for others to see what is on the screen when viewed from an angle. There’s also an included digital stylus that you can utilize better when it’s in tablet mode, perfect for scribbling notes or drawing artwork.

The notebook also includes a 720p webcam and while quality could better, it’s enough for video calls as long as you have proper lighting. The webcam even includes an electronic shutter that can you open or close at a push of a button.

The keypad’s spaced layout made it comfortable to type on and easier to use since it’s backlit and the touchpad’s larger size meant it is easier to navigate even without a mouse. The speakers are tuned by Bang & Olufsen, so there’s a level of quality here that couldn’t be matched by the standard speakers you find on other business notebooks.

The EliteBook x360 1040 G7 we got for review runs on an Intel Core i7-10710 CPU, 512GB SSD, and 16GB of RAM. With Windows 10 Pro, it’s enough to breeze through different productivity applications that actually worked well in the weeks that I have used it. Even with multiple tabs open on Chrome, Spotify running in the background, and Microsoft Word open, I noticed no lags or hiccups while using the EliteBook x360 1040 G7.

Even the battery life was great, it managed to keep up with my everyday tasks with the battery left to spare even after 7 hours of continuous usage. Results may vary of course, but for everyday use, I can feel confident not bringing a charger since I know the battery can last.

Overall the HP EliteBook x360 1040 G7 is undoubtedly one of the best-looking business notebooks we’ve tasted in a while, offering a great design, superb performance, and long battery life.

We Love:
