Sony’s Xperia XZ might soon come in a ‘Pro’ version
January 17, 2018

Will be released this February.

Despite releasing three new smartphones just last week at CES 2018, Sony is reportedly releasing another smartphone just before (or during) next month’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.

The smartphone in question is rumored to be the Sony Xperia XZ Pro, dubbed as the top flagship device that the company is introducing. Aside from being the best top-of-the-line device in the company’s smartphone lineup, it will reportedly be also the most expensive.

Phone Arena reports that the Sony Xperia XZ Pro will sport a 5.7-inch OLED display that will come with an impressive 4K resolution. You can argue that 4K might be too much for a smartphone, but if anyone can pull off a 4K display on a mobile device, it’s Sony. A leaked image of the partial specifications is shown above.

Rounding off the specifications is a Snapdragon 845 CPU along with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory expandable through micro SD. It will reportedly also have a dual camera setup at the back composing of an 18-megapixel sensor along with a 12-megapixel one. The front camera will have a 13-megapixel sensor as well. There’s also water and dust resistance along with a 3,420 mAh battery. Expect it to run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

The specifications does point to a ‘Pro’ hardware, though we may have to wait and see until next month’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) for an official announcement from Sony.
